چکیده

Black spruce (Picea mariana (Mill.) Britton, Sterns & Poggenb.) is one of the most common tree species in boreal forest. However, there limited information on major disturbance agents, eastern dwarf mistletoe (Arceuthobium pusillum Peck; EDM) a native, parasitic plant that influences stand development especially at southwestern range limit black Minnesota. The goal our study was to quantify overstory and understory (sapling seedling) structure composition productive stands across three EDM severity categories: uninfected (0% EDM), low (<50% infected with high (>50% northern Minnesota during summer 2017. presence infection shifted compared stands. Uninfected were dominated by both average had uni-modal diameter distribution. Both significantly greater richness, Shannon’s diversity index, Evenness infections sapling layer, which will likely kill trees within seventeen years may result shifting forest or transition non-forested conditions. subsequently development. Depending goals objectives ultimate desired future conditions broader landscape level, natural resource managers choose more less intensive management EDM.

critical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language

since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...

NOTE / NOTE Dwarf mistletoe effects on fuel loadings in ponderosa pine forests in northern Arizona

Southwestern dwarf mistletoe (Arceuthobium vaginatum (Willd.) J. Presl ssp. cryptopodum) infests about 0.9 million ha in the southwestern United States. Several studies suggest that dwarf mistletoes affect forest fuels and fire behavior; however, few studies have quantified these effects. We compared surface fuel loadings and predicted fire behavior among four levels of dwarf mistletoe infestat...
